Acupuncture and immunity – ST36

One of the most used points in acupuncture is ST36. The Chinese name for this point is Zusanli, which literally means “three distances on the leg.” The name certainly derives from its location, that is, three cun (acupuncture unit of measurement) from the knee joint line, one finger width lateral to the tibial crest. However, the name also has a symbolic meaning, as this point has an important tonic effect on the body’s energy and, if stimulated, Chinese medical tradition claims that it can provide the legs with energy to walk three further distances (miles). in this case.

There are ancient Chinese and Japanese references that describe army marches, in which it is said that every three miles (about 5 km) the soldiers took a break to rest and eat, taking advantage of the rest to also self-treat ST36 to relieve fatigue in the legs. .

It is said that ancient Chinese doctors, when called to serve in areas affected by major epidemics, performed a small caustic treatment at this point, so that it would be continually stimulated.

Obviously these are purely historical curiosities, this does not mean that ST36, in addition to its beneficial effects on all abdominal disorders, also has important effects when it comes to toning our body’s defenses. #shiatsu #mtc #psychophysical well-being

To be is to be perceived” (Berkeley)

The hands, in Shiatsu, are not only a tool to apply pressure for therapeutic purposes, but a symbol of relationship and understanding that can technically be varied by using, for example, the thumb instead of the palm.

Shiatsu is presented as a means to compensate for the enormous emotional deficiencies inherent in traditional Japanese culture, with the specific desire to communicate deeply with others, without words and beyond. For the Shiatsu strategy to be expressed better, it needs to be two, using the relationship as an energetic catalyst for the therapeutic act.

In Shiatsu, Tori and Uke are united by pressure. The saying, “When you press a point, you press yourself,” highlights how there is no conflictual dualism in the relationship between the Shiatsu operator and the receiver. In practice, the meeting attitude must be maintained intentionally by integrating with the technique.

Shiatsu is dynamic balance.

Shiatsu is a relationship between two poles.

Shiatsu is complementarity of opposites.

BALANCE, ENERGY… QUALITY OF LIFE

Enjoying a SHIATSU session means taking a break from daily rhythms, disconnecting your mind and finding a quiet space in which to regenerate.

Regenerating means regenerating body and mind, finding the physical and mental energy to face the rest of the day with clarity and lucidity… to continue in life with greater momentum, balance and quality.

POINT 6 OF THE SPLEEN MERIDIAN – SANYINJIAO (Meeting of the three yins)

It is located on the medial aspect of the lower limb, 3 cun above the internal malleolus.

(4 fingers) in a depression near the medial crest of the tibia.

Nb: it is calculated from the highest point of the ankle.

TRADITIONAL ACTIONS:

TONE THE SPLEEN AND STOMACH

REMOVES MOISTURE

HARMONIZES THE LIVER AND TONES THE KIDNEY

HARMONIZES THE MIDDLE JIAO

BENEFITS FOR THE GENITAL

STRENGTHENS THE BLOOD

CALM THE SHEN

TONE THE KIDNEY (indirectly).

The emptiness of the spleen is perceived by the heaviness of the body, limbs and extreme fatigue.

There is often diarrhea and undigested food in the stool.

Little appetite.

Menstrual syndromes: uterine bleeding with dizziness, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, infertility, delay in childbirth.

Difficulty urinating, enuresis.

Palpitations, insomnia; Childhood pathology caused by a sudden fright.

Dizziness and tinnitus (due to yin deficiency).

Its most important function is to strengthen and harmonize the spleen in all its aspects.

The spleen is responsible for the transformation and transport of nutrients, making it the most important zang in the formation of qi and blood.

IF THE SPLEEN IS EMPTY OF YANG (Qi):

Food is not processed correctly and abdominal bloating, feeling of fullness and diarrhea occur.

Insufficient blood formation: palpitations, blurred vision.

Inability of the spleen to contain blood: hemorrhages, uterine bleeding, metrorrhagia.

Then, if the spleen does not function well, excess moisture can form in the body: this is perceived as tiredness and heaviness.

Relationship between SPLEEN 6 and liver: harmonizes the liver by diffusing its Qi and nourishing it with blood.

SPLEEN 6 treats all genital pathologies of men and women.

For almost all types of insomnia, spleen 6 and heart 7 work very well.
